In the name of Coffee....!

Wouldn't it be great to have Starbucks in SA!?

I love Jozi right….BUT I love coffee even more!

So I thought it may be cool to conduct a little survey amongst all you coffee lovers reading this blog. Please comment on your favourite coffee place/shop whatever! I'm on a quest for the grooviest coffee experience in Jozi…. You are welcome to add your comments from anywhere though… Cape/Durbs wherever!

Once you have commented I will try visit the place and give you all feedback…! I love Vida e Caffe but I would love to see if there is anything out there giving Vida a run for its money! Let me know!

I am such a coffe slut that I even enjoy a mediocre cup. Woolworths@Gateway serves a divine cup

I went to Vida e Caffe in Greenside the other day... It is good to see that they can actually do the same thing at two shops. They struggled to get that right at Starbucks! Seattle Coffee Co, Hyde Park is my fave

Starbucks can stay in the USA, they certainly shouldn't be allowed and exit visa.

... for me Doppio Zero guys, Greenside or maybe 4 ways. (especially is you have your laptop for company !).

The vida loca guys ?, overated, especially Greenpoint CTN. All noise and no substance.

I have found 'the original' coffee from the birth of the black magic - Ethiopia. The coffee is imported and roasted by Bean There. Small brand going big. They subscribe to the Fair Trade principal which means the farmers survive coffee price lows on the Stock Exchange. We are selling the coffee bags and cappochino versions at The Business Place, 58 Marshall Street, Joburg. We are starting a little 'entrepreneur lounge'. Early days but come and try the coffee and chat!! Taste the true tast of coffee from Africa, by Africa, in Africa!

PS. I am a coffee analyser and philosopher and I have done coffee from San Fran to Singapore. It has to be done right, I have ertain contral mechanisms in place and often send it back with instructions about the creme and how much water should be used in a double decaf Xpresso - otherwise I'd rather drink water. Yes, decaf is coffee!! (but out product from Ethiopia is pure arabica beans therefore lower doses of the 'bad' kind of caffeine. (I have a thesis in the making Candice!)

Drinking coffee at Starbucks is like dunking a Peppermint Crisp in Ricoffy. You're more likely to get an insulin fueled snooze attack than a wake up call. Grab a sunny spot at Vida e Caffe opposite Primedia in Sandton the Macchiato is great and the noise will keep you awake till the coffee kicks in.

Thanks for the laugh Rellum! Love Vida's Macchiato and their noise!

I say the best cup of coffee is when I watch someone else drink it whilst I sip slowly on my ice cold Peroni.Only joking!! Only coffee I enjoy is a Wimpy coffe as thats as close to a coffee shop I get - Wimpy farmhouse with a cheese griller and a mega coffee.I will let you know though as soon as I venture out the Wimpy zone.

I love the smell of coffee, more than I love drinking it. Feelings of of comfort, contentment, warmth, newspapers, rainy sunday mornings and sleepy warm winter Durban sundays. So if the vibe is rite the coffee is good. In Durban check out St TRopez, Oscars, Nourish

a true friend, love woollies coffee and the good old faithful Wimpy coffee -when travelling on the road between Gauteng & Durbs.
